Gaming laptops are notorious for overheating.
We’ll show you how to keep your laptop cool no matter how long or intense your gaming session is. Gaming PCs are extraordinary. They’re (relatively) tiny, portable, and bundle a PC’s graphical processing power into a compact, manageable container.
Unfortunately, one of its major drawbacks is its compactness.
Even basic computers can produce and retain a significant amount of heat. When you add a powerful GPU to the mix, the problem gets a lot worse. After all, while both the CPU and GPU are working hard, hardware designers can only do so much to keep such a compact space cool.
So, how can you keep cool when playing video games on your laptop?
Fortunately, you can do a few things to ensure that your PC’s cooling system is in good working order, and you can even give it a little more kick!
- The First Step: Proper Positioning
- Cleaning is the second step.
- Additional Cooling (Step 3)
Is air cooling enough for gaming?
Yes! Most of the time the fans on your machine can handle the heat of gameplay. However, if your CPU reaches a certain threshold (usually 120C), then air cooling alone isn’t going to cut it. In this scenario, you should invest in a water-cooling solution like Corsair’s Hydro Series H100i V2.
If you play in your home environment or in a gaming PC, then yes. However, if you’re running a full-blown gaming rig, then it might not be. You’ll need a better solution like a GPU air cooler or liquid cooling solution.
Is liquid cooler better?
The truth is, that both liquid cooling solutions have their pros and cons. However, if you’re willing to pay more money, the best option is the water cooling setup.
What do you need for water cooling?
If you plan to go fast, stay cool, and dominate the competition, you’ll need to get all the latest water cooling accessories. Including a new power supply! Power supplies are small, light, and extremely affordable. In fact, you can buy a good one for less than 10 bucks! The new ones also have great water cooling performance. They’re just like the old ones, but they have a built-in water pump. This way, you can get twice as much cooling power!
You’ll need to buy a CPU cooler that features two or more copper heat pipes and a radiator, either a 360mm or 240mm radiator. That said, we recommend choosing the larger radiator for better cooling.
How much does a liquid cooling setup cost?
You may not realize it, but you’re spending a lot of money on your computer! All those expensive graphics cards… They use a lot of power! So do all those fans. The CPU generates a lot of heat. So does the motherboard. And the whole thing needs to be cooled down by fans. But a liquid cooling system can cool all those parts at the same time. And you don’t have to worry about replacing them as often as you would a traditional cooling setup. A liquid cooling system will only cost you $300 to $500. And that’s including the hardware and the software.
The price of a CPU liquid cooling setup depends on several factors including:
- Number of components
- Type of components (motherboard, CPU, GPU, PSU)
- Number of fans (usually more fans = better cooling)
- Size of components
- Size of case
- Material (solid aluminum vs. copper)
So, if you’re planning to buy a liquid cooling setup, first check your requirement.
For the average mid-range user, a liquid cooling system is priced between $100 – $200.
Is water cooling easy to set up?
A couple of years ago, I bought a new computer. It had a new motherboard. It didn’t come with any accessories. So what did I do? I went to the store and bought a case, some fans, a power supply and all kinds of software. I spent almost $600 in total. When I got the computer home, I put it together as soon as I could. A few weeks later, my computer started acting funny. It kept shutting down unexpectedly. I replaced the motherboard and fixed the problem. But my computer was still pretty slow. I decided to get some expert advice. I called a friend of mine who knows computers. He said there was one thing wrong with my computer: Its temperature was way too high. He told me about this great company that made computer coolers. They had a huge selection of computer coolers. I thought: “Cool, let’s go try out a couple of those coolers.” I ordered one and a few days later the cooler arrived in the mail. I plugged it in, and sure enough, my computer was running cool! All I had to do was turn the fans on. After I’d used the cooler for a while, I noticed the fans would sometimes be on all night long. I didn’t think much about it. But my computer has been running great ever since. I’m really happy with my new computer.
Is it common for a gaming laptop to get hot?
Gaming laptops are known to get heated, especially when playing games or performing other hardware-intensive tasks like developing software, video editing, and so on. As a result, you’re not doing anything incorrectly.
Do gaming laptops have a long life span?
It should last between 3 and 4 years for a good mid-range gaming laptop. It could last 4-6 years for high-end models. You can anticipate it to last up to ten years in terms of its physical components. In a few years, your gaming laptop may not be able to cope with all the software updates.
Is a cooling pad required for a gaming laptop?
Because of the powerful GPU, the Gaming Laptop runs at a high temperature, necessitating the usage of a Cooling Pad. The Cooling Pads will be highly beneficial in maintaining a comfortable temperature throughout short and lengthy sessions.
if you’re planning to playing games on a laptop, make sure you’ve got the right cooling solution.
